The National Engineering Research Center of Applied Technology for Agricultural Biodiversity was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in November 2003, and passed the national acceptance recognition and was officially established and running in June 2009. Based on the advantages of agricultural biodiversity in the longitudinal ridge and valley area of the eastern Himalayas, the center is oriented to national strategic tasks, aims at the frontier of international agricultural biodiversity research, focuses on national food security, ecological security and rural revitalization, carries out key technology research, is oriented to market demand, carries out system integration and transfer of major technological achievements, constructs the ecological security barrier in southwest of China's border. The platform provides the support of technology and human resources for the conservation and utilization of agricultural biodiversity and the high-quality development of national ecological agriculture.
Technology Direction
The center mainly conducts technical research in the following three directions.
1、Research and development of agricultural genetic diversity conservation and utilization technology and transformation of scientific and technological achievement
Research on the conservation and utilization of genetic diversity of major crops, livestock and poultry, agricultural microorganisms, etc., development of ecological control technologies on agricultural pests based on genetic diversity, development of new varieties and new products, and provision of scientific and technological strategic power for national food safety.
2、Research and development of agricultural species diversity protection and utilization technology and transformation of scientific and technological achievement
Conduct research on the protection and utilization of species diversity of major crops, livestock and poultry and agricultural microorganisms, conduct in-depth research on the synergistic effects and mechanisms of species diversity, develop and promote key technologies for ecological control on pests and livestock and poultry resources based on species diversity, form innovative achievements and apply them on a large scale, and promote the high-quality development of green breeding industries.
3、Research and development of agricultural habitat diversity protection and utilization technology and transformation of scientific and technological achievement
Conduct research on the conservation and utilization of agricultural habitat diversity in southwest China, study in depth the coupling mechanism between habitat diversity characteristics and crop growth and development characteristics, develop key technologies for producing high-quality and safe agricultural products based on habitat diversity, and realize the industrial application of innovative results, to promote the development of highland agricultural industries.
