In response to the outstanding problems faced by the production of Chinese herbal medicines, such as high yield and low quality, excessive pesticide residues and heavy metals contamination, continuous crop barriers, and imbalance of market supply and demand, the college proposed a new model of return Chinese herbal medicines to the natural mountains and forests based on scientific research and practice, aiming at improving the quality of herb. In recent years, in Lancang and Huize counties of Yunnan, the technical achievements of "Panax pseudo-ginseng under the forest", " Rhizoma Polygonati under the forest", " Rhizoma Paridis under the forest", " Hyacinth bletilla under the forest", etc. have been applied in poor mountainous areas, which have helped the mountainous people to get rid of poverty and become rich. Based on years of scientific research practice and experience in poverty alleviation in rural areas, it formed a consultation proposal for developing the production of Chinese herbs under the forest, which was submitted to the National People's Congress through the NPC channel. Chairman Li Zhanshu paid great attention to it and made an important instruction, which was forwarded to the relevant leaders of the State Council for perusal, spurring the industry authorities to promote the high-quality development of under-forest herb production.
We have provided consulting suggestions for the formulation of the State Council's "Several Policies and Measures on Accelerating the Development of Chinese Medicine Features", the National Forestry and Grassland Bureau's "Opinions on Scientific Utilization of Forest Land Resources to Promote High-Quality Development of Woody Food and Oil and Forest Economy", and the National Forestry and Grassland Bureau's "Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for Forestry and Grassland Protection and Development".
